One of the top things to do in Kamloops, BC — the Kamloops Heritage Railway — Spirit of Kamloops rail tour! When we were filming the video at the end of my post, I experience six train rides within the span of two weeks, and each ride was different.
Step into history when you arrive at the train station. I was greeted by the friendly staff and volunteers dressed in period costume with big grins on their faces! Everyone was super friendly and knowledgeable about Kamloops and the history of the 2141 steam locomotive.
The 2141 steam locomotive is a beautifully restored locomotive consisting of the steam engine, passenger coach 403, café lounge, and caboose.
Summer rail tours are usually a “full house”. You’re free to walk the train and visit each of the cars, check out the restorations, and talk to the volunteers about the history of the 2141. We were entertained by dance performances, as well as a fantastic band performance and amazing sunsets! 🙂
One of the stops along the way on the summer rail tours is to visit St. Joseph’s Church. You’ll detrain and go on a guided tour of the beautiful church.
If you’re looking for something to do at Halloween each year, ride the Ghost Train, and take part in the festivities by riding the special Spirit of Christmas train. Ho ho ho!
