I was in Banff National Park recently for a short getaway to relax from working too many hours the past few months. My list of things to do and see in the Park was the length of my arm so I wanted to book in a hotel that is central to everything. The historic Mount Royal Hotel was a perfect place to stay right downtown Banff. There are so many great restaurants and shops within walking distance from the hotel, and the staff were fantastic and helping me find the last-minute shopping I needed to do. I’ll admit it… I forgot to bring an adapter for clearing my camera memory card.

They have two different styles of rooms, the Centennial Rooms, and the Junior Suite. I’ve stayed in both and love both! For a longer stay, the Junior Suite is perfect as there’s a kitchenette plus a desk with a USB charging station.

A great place to relax with family and friends is in the Cascade Lounge and of course, a soak in the rooftop hot tubs is perfect after a long day of exploring. Staying at the Mount Royal Hotel puts you within walking distance to many restaurants, nightlife, and shopping. I enjoyed Greek food one night and Mexican another, plus lunch in a rooftop restaurant nearby.

Because of COVID-19, some parts of the hotel may not be open. Please check with the front desk to confirm. You can also read more about the safety precautions on their website.
There is so much to do in the Banff area, for details you can check out my other blog post “Top Things to Do in Banff National Park“, and also the newest tour “Open Top Touring” where you can tour the Banff area in an open-top vintage 1930s coach. This is a seasonal tour so check for availability.
