I love the concept of farm-to-table dining and enjoy tasting inspired dishes of fresh, local products created by talented chefs. Locally grown vegetables and herbs are much more flavourful and support the economy within the region they are grown.
I had the pleasure of being hosted at Harpur Family Farm’s local media and community leaders’ dinner in preparation for their 100% local farm-to-table dinner series. I was quite curious about al fresco dining in a pasture and jumped at the chance to attend. From the moment I arrived at the farm, I was warmly greeted and made to feel at home by both Sydney and Steve, and all their guests.
Farm to Table Dining
Chef Darren Simpson created a delicious 4-course dinner for us using fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, and herbs, and each course was paired with local wines. I chose the beef option over chicken, and have nothing but good things to say about every dish served.
Harpur Family Farm is owned by Steve Harpur and Sydney Barron. Drop by during their business hours for baked goodies, hayrides, and in the fall, a pumpkin patch!
If you’d love to experience this fabulous concept yourself, you can see when the next dinner is being hosted by visiting the Harpur Family Farm website and you can purchase your tickets online.
