Sun Peaks Resort, BC

Sun Peaks Resort is well-known for skiing and snowboarding…but what if you don’t ski or just want a quiet winter weekend getaway? Here are 12 things to do at Sun Peaks Resort if you don’t ski…or choose not to.

Wandering through the village during the daytime is less busy as most people are on the hill, you can enjoy browsing through the uncrowded shops and galleries, enjoy a variety of food and coffee choices, as well as markets to purchase groceries…and there’s even a store just for pet toys and supplies!

There are so many activities to do from active snowshoeing and ice skating to fun tours by dogsled, snowmobile, or segway! One of my favourites is touring through the village on a horse-drawn sleigh.

  1. Ice Skating
  2. Tube Park
  3. Winter Segway Tours
  4. Snowshoeing
  5. Snowbiking
  6. Snowmobiling Tours
  7. Horse-Drawn Sleigh Rides
  8. Dog Sled Tours
  9. Cat Trax Groomer Rides
  10. Spa Treatments
  11. Shopping
  12. Dining + Coffee Shops

There are many more things you can do so book your trip and discover them for yourself!  Come back in the summer for a completely different adventure.

  1. Love these ideas! I’ve always wanted to stay at a nice ski resort but I’m not big on skiing. Good to know there’s something for everyone ☺ I’m moving to Canada shortly so this has been added to the Canada bucket list! Is it easy to get to if you don’t have your own car?

    1. That’s fantastic! I’m glad my post is useful for you. There is so much more to do that I didn’t mention like the recreation centre and spas. 🙂 There is a shuttle that you can take from the airport to the ski resort and everything is within walking distance in the village. You could also rent a car at the airport for more mobility. What part of Canada are you moving to?

      1. Oh awesome 🙂 Love a good spa trip! That’s good to know, thanks. The shuttle sounds good- not sure how I’ll go driving on the opposite side of the road than what I’m used to haha. I’m moving to Toronto.

  2. I need to do the dogsledding and also the spa’s are calling my name 😉 Thank you for sharing Sherri! Great pictures as always.

  3. Such great ideas! When I go to similar places I like to go skiing, but it’s true that there’s always someone that doesn’t like to do it and there are a lot of options! Shopping is my favourite 🙂

    1. I think shopping is a big hit everywhere! I have been asked by some ladies what to do at Sun Peaks while their husbands skied, so it was time to write this post. 🙂

  4. You haven’t heard of snowshoeing? It’s almost like walking on tennis racquets in the snow, if that makes sense. lol Yes, we have lots of powdery snow up here. You should visit!

  5. It’s nice to have a place like that to escape to! I love golfing here too, so much to do. Sun Peaks is beautiful any time of year. 🙂

    1. Thank you so much, I appreciate it. It is nice to live so close, too, I can go up there for a weekend or just for an afternoon. I highly recommend visiting. 🙂

  6. Thanks!! Sometimes you just want a winter getaway too, and not ski! There are lots of options. I’d love to do the dog sled tour, too! Maybe next winter!
